ACTRESS Angeline Tan (pic) has tied the knot with her longtime friend, film director-actor Sabri Yunus, at a private ceremony in Perlis, major Chinese dailies reported.

The couple got to know each other in the 1990s through many collaborations including the popular sitcom Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu in which Tan played the role of hairdresser Lucy while Sabri was Wan Ismail Golok, a private investigator.

Tan, 56, has now taken on the name Ardini.

“The religious department asked us to pick a name for the registration and I chose Ardini within two minutes because it means my loving wife,” said Sabri, 62.

Dressed in white, the couple completed the ceremony on Saturday witnessed by their family members, friends and other celebrities.

“We have known each other for a long time and we understand each other well,” said Sabri, who has three children from his first marriage. His wife Norraya Mohd Yusof died of cancer in 2007.

Tan has two children from a previous marriage.

> The dailies also reported that a Good Samaritan came to the rescue of a starving two-year-old child, who had been locked in his apartment in China for three days.

Apparently the father left him some snacks and biscuits before leaving home. For three days, the toddler was left alone in the rented room in Suzhou city of China’s Jiangsu province.

A neighbour, who heard a kid’s voice calling out for his father, found him after a brief search.
