Understanding needs of the people, SMEs will help in Budget debate, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Understanding the needs of the people and small and medium enterprises (SME) will help me raise their concerns during the Budget 2024 debate in Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 17), says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said he met with Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) treasurer-general Datuk Koong Lin Loong in Parliament on Monday (Oct 16) to learn more.

"Bumped into Datuk Koong in Parliament today. He was at the Dewan Rakyat to listen to the debate on the 2024 Budget.

"He is a certified accountant with vast experience in SME development in Malaysia," the Ayer Hitam MP said in a Facebook post on Monday.

"I was pleased to exchange views with him on Budget 2024 while also understanding the reaction from the people and SME players." Dr Wee said, adding that he will participate in the debate on Budget 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat at noon on Tuesday (Oct 17).
