KUALA LUMPUR: A company executive was fined RM3,000, in default a month in jail, by the Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday (Oct 17) for submitting a forged degree certificate in Mechanical Engineering and academic transcripts to the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) two years ago.
Magistrate Nurul Izzah Shaharuddin meted the fine on Norasri Mohd Nor, 46, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
The father of two children was charged with submitting the forged documents, purportedly issued by Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University, for a graduate engineer programme in an application to BEM at the Public Works Department headquarters, Jalan Sultan Salahuddin here, on Sept 8, 2021.
The charge was framed under s are brought under Section 24 (a) of the Engineers Registration Act 1967.
Deputy public prosecutor Sheryn Yong Shi Yee prosecuted, while Norasri was represented by lawyer Ernie Ahmad from the National Legal Aid Foundation.- Bernama
