Cops record statements of six people over baby girl’s death

PETALING JAYA: Police have recorded the statements of six individuals in connection with the death of a two-month-old baby girl at a daycare centre in Kota Damansara.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said those whose statements were recorded were the victim's family members and the daycare centre's staff members.

"We have yet to receive the post-mortem report. We are still investigating the matter further," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Oct 17).

It was reported that a woman in her 40’s was detained and was called up to Petaling Jaya police headquarters at about 3pm on Oct 13.

"The babysitter is a foreigner who is married to a local man. She was detained and subsequently released on police bail after her statement was recorded," ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin had said.

The case is classified under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, and it occurred on Oct 10, when the victim Qaseh Aulia Faizul was sent to the daycare centre in Kota Damansara.

The victim's father Faizul Ali Adam claimed in a viral video that he received a call from the daycare centre, informing him that his daughter was unconscious before she was brought to a hospital in Kota Damansara.

Faizul was informed that his daughter died upon arrival at the hospital before she was referred to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for post-mortem.

He then lodged a police report after reviewing CCTV footage that allegedly showed negligence of the babysitter while caring for his daughter.
