PETALING JAYA: Malaysian fashion label Rizman Ruzaini caused a buzz on social media, when British supermodel Naomi Campbell walked the runway of the Dubai Fashion Week on Sunday.

“It’s the dream of every designer to have such an iconic supermodel walk for them.

“But when this became a reality for us, we were delighted at her candour and professionalism,” the label’s co-founder Rizman Nordin said, when contacted by The Star.

“She is as real as a woman of the world gets, but also magical when she took the runway, on a world class platform like the Dubai Fashion Week, wearing a Rizman Ruzaini design. Naomi Campbell is in a class of her own,” fellow co-founder Ruzaini Jamil added.

Seventeen years ago, Rizman and Ruzaini were classmates at UiTM (Universiti Teknologi Mara) pursuing degrees in fashion design.

It was also at that time that they envisioned forming a partnership in fashion.

A snapshot of Rizman and Ruzaini walking alongside Campbell was posted on social platform Instagram after the show ended.

There is a video uploaded too, where the duo called Campbell closing their show “history in the making”.

They also said that the experience of having her backstage was “lit”.

Campbell wore a stunning embellished long dress with a matching short cape.

In August, it was revealed that Rizman Ruzaini was invited to participate in the prestigious Dubai Fashion Week, organised by the Arab Fashion Council.

This glamourous event, held yearly in the much hyped location is one stop in the elite group of fashion weeks, which also comprises the cities of London, Paris, Milan and New York.

The Rizman Ruzaini label has always been known to offer glamorous designs.

Malaysian celebrities from Ziana Zain to Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Erra Fazira are among the label’s clients.
