Two soldiers, labourer charged with drug possession


SEREMBAN: Two soldiers were among three individuals charged in the Rembau Magistrate's Court near here with drug possession on Tuesday (Oct 17).

The soldiers, Mohd Azizan Mohd Yusof, 28, and Mohd Fanddi Kusnin, 35, as well as Chean Boon Kok, 28, who is a labourer, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Kartini Kasran.

The three of them were jointly charged with possession of 6.2 grammes of methamphetamine in the living room of a house in Gemas at about 3.30am last Oct 12.

They were charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, and faced imprisonment for up to five years and whipping, if found guilty.

The court allowed them bail of RM5,000 each with one surety and set Nov 30 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Amirul Noor Hashimi prosecuted, while the accused were represented by lawyer Roslaili Alias from the National Legal Aid Foundation. - Bernama
