ISKANDAR PUTERI: Strengthening youth development in Johor will be among the key initiatives expected to be addressed by Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi in the upcoming state Budget 2024.

State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Human Resources Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said the Johor Mentri Besar would be tabling the state budget next month.

“I have already discussed with the Mentri Besar about allocation of initiatives and incentives for strengthening youth development next year.

“I am sure that empowering youth will be part of the Mentri Besar's plans in 2024 as it is part of the government’s six key strategies to make Johor a developed state,” he added.

Mohd Hairi, who is also the Larkin assemblyman, said this when met after chairing the state-level national youth consulting council conference held at Kota Iskandar here on Tuesday (Oct 17).

He added that the government wished to see more youth in Johor, starting from secondary school level, to be part of youth development including being active in volunteering.

Mohd Hairi said he was hopeful that the allocation they requested would be approved in the state Budget 2024 to realise their plans for youth development on a bigger scale.
