Exec fined for using forged degree cert

KUALA LUMPUR: A company executive has been fined RM3,000, in default a month in jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here for submitting a forged degree certificate in Mechanical Engineering and forged academic transcripts to the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) two years ago.

Magistrate Nurul Izzah Shaharuddin yesterday handed out the fine on Norasri Mohd Nor, 46, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

The father of two was charged with submitting the forged documents, purportedly issued by Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University, for a graduate programme in an application to BEM at the Public Works Department headquarters.

The charge was framed under Section 24 (a) of the Engineers Registration Act 1967.

Deputy public prosecutor Sheryn Yong Shi Yee prosecuted, while Norasri was represented by lawyer Ernie Ahmad from the National Legal Aid Foundation. – Bernama
