Motorcyclist dies in accident in Semporna


KOTA KINABALU: A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident with a car at Semporna district on Wednesday (Oct 18).

According to the police, the fatal accident occurred at 11.50am along KM11 along Jalan Semporna - Tawau.

"The 39-year-old car driver did not sustain injuries during the incident.

"The report came in at 12.20pm, and investigations found that the woman motorist was coming from Semporna town heading towards Kg Sg Nasip Lihak-Lihak there.

"Upon reaching the KM11 stretch, the motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction went into the other lane and ended up hitting the car.

"She was declared dead on location by a medical officer and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of Road Transport Act 1987," said Semporna police in a statement here, adding that both parties are not suspected of drunk driving.
