KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate for the Jepak by-election Iskandar Turkee has pledged to continue the legacy of his predecessor, the late Datuk Talib Zulpilip.
Iskandar, 54, said he had been close to Talib and had done some programmes with him.
“I feel it’s my responsibility to continue his legacy. To me, it’s a way to honour him,” he told reporters after being announced as the candidate by GPS chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in Bintulu yesterday.
Iskandar, the state National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) director, resigned from his post yesterday upon being selected to contest the by-election.
He said his 15 years of experience in AADK would help him come up with prevention and intervention measures to address social issues in Jepak and assist those affected.
