IPOH: Police have apprehended six teenagers for allegedly taking turns to rape a 14-year-old in Hutan Melintang.
Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the victim’s mother lodged a report on Tuesday (Oct 17) at about 8.30pm.
He said the school had informed the mother of the incident, which prompted her to lodge a police report.
ACP Ahmad Adnan said the incident was believed to have occurred on Sept 24 at about 2.30am in a house in Hutan Melintang.
"The victim was invited by a male school friend to the house, and when she arrived, there were several other males that she knew were resting inside the house.
"The victim was asked to engage in sexual activities, where five of the teens ranging from 15- to 17-years-old took turns to rape her, except for the friend who invited her to the house," he said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 19)
Ahmad Adnan said based on information received on Wednesday (Oct 18), all six were arrested, where five of the suspects were studying at the same school as the victim.
One of the six suspects, a 17-year-old, had stopped schooling, he added.
"All the suspects have been remanded until tomorrow (Oct 20).
"Since the victim is underage, the police will be carrying out investigations under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape," he said.
Ahmad Adnan also said the investigation papers would be referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action.
