A FOOLISH school chair prank has left a young girl with severe spinal injuries.
Nanyang Siang Pau reported that a mother, who shared her daughter Iqa’s story on Tiktok, said she was “devastated” seeing her child like that.
She said Iqa became injured after a friend at school recently pulled a prank on her by pulling her chair away.
Iqa was discharged after staying at the hospital for several days, where she was diagnosed with coccyx fracture (a break in the tailbone), disc bulge, and bone bruise.
The mother said Iqa still needed to be bedridden most of the time as she could not sit for too long, and she still cries every day because of the pain.
The mother’s video has since gone viral, receiving over a million views and shared many times.
It also sparked outrage among Internet users, with many calling for stricter measures to deter such dangerous pranks.
They also posted comments encouraging the mother and daughter to be strong, while some called for the culprit’s parents to take responsibility and bear Iqa’s medical expenses.
Some also urged Iqa’s mother to contact the authorities.
Others shared similar experiences of the same dangerous prank during their schooling days.
One of them, known as Kak Long Aini, said she has been suffering for 32 years because of the same incident that left her with a slipped disc.
“Just had a steroid injection on Oct 5 but it’s still slowly recovering and painful.
“I will not forgive them,” she said, likely referring to those who pulled the prank on her.
The mother also reminded everyone of the seriousness of such a prank and the importance of making children aware that such behaviour is not tolerated at school.
> China Press reported that a 14-year-old girl from Lukut, Negri Sembilan, left home for four days to be with her boyfriend and one of his friends.
She was brought to a newly completed but unlocked house in a residential area in Lenggeng, where the trio engaged in sexual activities.
Several spots in the house, such as the master bathroom, bathtub and living hall were stained with traces of liquid and blood.
The girl’s mother noticed she had gone missing on Oct 11 and lodged a report.
When the boyfriend was sending the girl home on Oct 15, his motorcycle ran out of fuel and he called the girl’s mother to pick her up near Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban.
The truth was uncovered after the mother questioned her daughter.
The police have so far arrested the boyfriend and are investigating the case under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
