IPOH: A 31-year-old man is expected to be charged in court with bringing a knife to the Perak Stadium.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the man, who was found to be carrying the weapon when he was searched near Gate B at the stadium on Thursday (Oct 19), is expected to be charged on Monday (oct 23).
"The man was arrested at about 8.45pm. He has been remanded for two days to be investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 20).
"We have received instructions from the DPP to charge the man," he added.
ACP Yahaya said the people should not bring any dangerous weapons or explosives like fireworks into the stadium during football matches, as it was an offence to do so.
"Those found guilty can be jailed up to 10 years and whipped," he said.
Separately, ACP Yahaya said a 25-year-old man had been arrested for preventing police from performing their duties on Thursday.
He said the man had also uttered harsh words towards a policeman on duty during the Malaysia Cup semi-final match between Perak FC and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).
"He was investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
"He also tested positive for ganja," he said, adding that the man was fined RM1,500 after pleading guilty at a Magistrate's Court here on Friday.
