PAS meet: M'sia must send protest note to countries that vetoed Gaza ceasefire at UNSC

SHAH ALAM: Malaysia must deliver a protest note against countries that vetoed the motion at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to call for a ceasefire in Gaza to allow for humanitarian aid access, says Dr Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi.

When delivering his motion for Palestine at the 69th PAS muktamar, the Foreign Affairs and International Relations Bureau chairman said Malaysia must send a strong message to countries such as the United States.

"The government should lead all efforts to bring Israel to the International Criminal Court over its violence.

"We are urging the government to send a protest note to the countries involved in preventing humanitarian aid being delivered to Gaza.

"PAS strongly condemns the war crimes and genocide by illegal Israeli entities against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank," he said at the IDCC Centre here on Saturday (Oct 21).

Muhammad Khalil added that the government should reject the 'two-state resolution' - which clearly fails to provide justice and independence to Palestine and its people.

On Oct 17, the UNSC rejected a Russian resolution that condemned violence and terrorism against civilians in Palestine.

Only four countries joined Russia in voting for the resolution — China, United Arab Emirates, Mozambique and Gabon.

Four countries voted to reject the motion - the United States, Britain, France and Japan. The other six countries on the UNSC abstained.

To be approved, a motion needs a minimum of nine "yes" votes in the 15-member council.
