PAS meet: Kedah MB Sanusi gets most votes in central committee polls


SHAH ALAM: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor garnered the highest number of votes during the PAS’ central working committee polls for the 2023-2025 term.

Muhammad Sanusi, who is the Jeneri assemblyman, received 1,098 votes followed by former PAS youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (1,042), and Batu Buruk assemblyman Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi (1,033).

The polling day on Friday (Oct 20) which saw 1,141 PAS members cast their ballots for 18 committee members - also voted in Jabi assemblyman Azman Ibrahim, Kapar MP Dr Halimah Ali, Jerantut MP Khairul Nizam Khairudin as well as Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nassuruddin Daud to the committee.

Other names include Datuk Marzuk Shaary, Datuk Siti Zailah Yusof, Datuk Awang Hashim, Riduan Mohamad Nor, Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim, Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan, Kamaruzaman Mohamad, Najhatussalehah Ahmad, Misbahul Munir Masduki, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad and Dr Rosni Adam.

PAS' top five posts, namely its president, deputy president and three vice presidents, were not contested.

Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man retained the party president and deputy president's posts respectively.

Muhammad Sanusi was earlier nominated for the vice president post but withdrew at the last hour, thus maintaining the current list of the party’s vice-presidents namely Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Datuk Idris Ahmad and Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
