PAS meet: Start planning to wrest Putrajaya, syura council tells party

SHAH ALAM: The PAS Syura Council (highest decision-making body of PAS) has decided that the party must now plan to wrest Putrajaya as it already governs four states.

PAS Mursyidul Am (spiritual leader) Datuk Hashim Jasin(pic) said this in his closing speech on the last day of PAS’ 69th Muktamar at IDCC Convention Centre here on Sunday (Oct 22).

“On Oct 14, in the Syura meeting, it was decided that the party needs to plan to wrest Putrajaya as we already have four states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis.

“It was also decided that the party must control the states and not state governments control the party. This is because we believe woe betides on the ulamas (religious leaders) who wait outside the doors of the political leaders.

“When political leaders wait on the ulamas, the states would be better off,” said Hashim.

He explained that religious leaders would ensure politicians do not stray from the right path of serving the people.

“It is better to have the head of the tortoise than to have the brains of the hare which ran past it but did not win in the end.

“Do your deeds quietly, there is no need for you to be seen until it is the time for your head to be visible like the head of the locomotive and hit anything in its path.

“The problem now is that those who have the heads of the tortoise want to be the heads of the locomotive straight away despite having no such strength.

“Hierarchy must be adhered to in leadership.

“In terms of policies of the party, the leaders must be left to decide, do not overstep them,” said Hashim.
