Thousands have been killed in Gaza, what are you all waiting for? Palestinian leader tells PAS members

SHAH ALAM: A top Palestinian leader took to the stage during PAS’ annual general assembly (muktamar) to urge its members to support the Palestinian struggle in any way possible.

Syeikh Khaled Ghawannah, a leader of the non-military arm of the Al-Quds Brigade, was speaking at a ceramah session held on the sidelines of the PAS' 69th Muktamar at the IDCC Convention Centre here on Saturday (Oct 21).

Al-Quds Brigade is a wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Speaking to about 500 PAS supporters, Khaled who spoke in Arabic, said that the Palestinians should be aided by all Muslims for their struggle against the Zionist Israeli regime is to uphold Islam.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad is the second largest group in the Gaza Strip after Hamas and cooperates with Hamas in the war against Israeli attacks on Palestinians.

"The Israelis killed children, women and youths. Since the attack on Gaza intensified - till today, 4,000 Palestinians have been killed and thousands more injured. What are the Islamic world and the Muslims waiting for?

"In one day, the Israelis bombed the hospital and killed 1,000 civilians and they continue to bomb the people's homes. The Palestinians are fighting back for the sake of Islam and they will continue to do so. Will you Muslims leave us to fight alone? If you cannot come and fight with us in body, help us with your money and your prayers," said Khaled.

The Palestine-Israel war had escalated to its worst in recent days, with the most Israeli strike on Oct 17 killing and injuring Palestinians at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

The PAS' 69th Muktamar this year is themed in solidarity with Palestine.

At the same event, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that more than RM3mil were collected on Oct 21 alone when the aid for Palestine was launched at the Muktamar.

"We expect to collect RM10mil to help the people in Palestine, fighting against the Israeli Zionist regime," said Tuan Ibrahim.
