Downpour, strong winds cause 5m-tall tree to fall on car in Kluang

KLUANG: Heavy rains and strong winds caused a five metre tall tree to fall on a car along Jalan 1/4 in Taman Sri Kluang here on Tuesday (Oct 24).

Kluang Fire and Rescue Department station operation chief Jusoh Mohd Salleh said they received a distress call about the incident at 3.59pm.

He then said that one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) with eight firemen were immediately deployed to the scene.

“When we reached the scene, we found a tree had fallen and crashed on top of a car. However, information about the driver is unknown as passers-by sent the victim to a hospital before our arrival at the location,” he said here on Tuesday.

Jusoh added that firemen then cut the tree using a chainsaw to clear the road to make it safer for other road users before ending the operation at 4.16pm.
