The incident occurred at 1.58pm, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said.

A statement by its operations room said a team from the Sentul fire station was sent to the location as soon as a distress call was received at 2pm.

"Upon arrival at 2.09pm, firemen were informed that there had been an explosion at the LV room.

"Checks revealed that a fire involving an underground cable caused the explosion," the statement read.
