Decision on ministry overseeing single border agency to be made soon, says Saifuddin

PUTRAJAYA: The decision on which ministry the single border agency will come under will be made soon, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister said that although this has not been decided, he has asked agencies under his ministry to be prepared to take on the task should it fall under its purview.

"The reason being is that when it comes to border issues, security holds more weightage and most of the country's security agencies are under the ministry. That is why I have asked the agencies to be prepared," he said.

During the tabling of Budget 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said a single border agency would be set up with an allocation of RM20mil for maintenance, repair works and procurements of assets at the country's entry points.
