Jewelry store cashier arrested for stealing from employer

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman was arrested after falsifying records to pocket jewellery from the shop she worked at.

In a statement on Wednesday (Oct 25), Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said that the 31-year-old suspect had been pilfering from her employer since September.

"The complainant, a manager of a gold shop in Ampang Jaya, found that one of the cashiers that had been working for around three years had been falsifying invoices to take home jewellery. Losses have been estimated to be around RM12,838," said ACP Mohd Azam.

"The stolen jewellery was then sold by the suspect," he said.

An arrest was made on Oct 23 after the complainant contacted the police. The arrest was made at the shop.

"She has been remanded for four days until Friday (Oct 27)," he added.
