Businessman wants to empower local co-operatives to digitalise

MELAKA: Cloudsoft Service Sdn Bhd managing director says his company is ready to digitise local co-operatives in the country just as it did in Indonesia.

“We recently signed a collaboration with the Indonesian Consortium of Co-operative Innovation (ICCI) in Jakarta, and I have plans to bring the same concept here,” said Datuk Ignatius Lourdsamy on Thursday (Oct 26).

He added that the digital transformation aligns with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry’s Cooperative Digitalisation Action Plan.

In April, its minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said a plan would be implemented in collaboration with the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM), Cooperative Institute of Malaysia (IKMa) and Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa), to digitalise cooperatives.

Ewon said that cooperatives must adapt to technology and adopt digitalisation, as marketing through digital platforms and online payments are the new business norm.
