HINDU residents in Terengganu are questioning the PAS government’s policy after the Kuala Terengganu City Council denied permission for devotees to use their usual route for the Navaratri procession, Makkal Osai reported.
The council has reportedly issued a letter dated Oct 23 to the Sri Kailasanathar Temple in Jalan Cerong Lanjut denying permission to use the usual procession route.
The letter signed by council president Rosli Latif apparently reiterated a decision given earlier in the month.
The route has been used for the procession by the temple without issue for the past 50 years, MIC vice-president Datuk T. Murugiah was quoted as saying.
“The police have not raised any objections this year, but the city council has denied the application and also rejected the appeal.
“This is very much contradictory to the party’s statements about tolerance and winning over the non-Muslim communities,” he added.
