Moot the motion for Palestine in Parliament, don’t be hypocrites, says Perikatan leaders

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leaders called on the Government not to be hypocritical in their support for Palestine by refusing to bring the matter to the Parliament.

In a rally in front of the US embassy here on Saturday (Oct 28), Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said that the government should allow the opposition to discuss condemning the Zionist Israeli regime over the latest aggression against the Palestinians.

“If the Malaysian government does not allow this and only talks about being pro-Palestine, this reeks of hypocrisy. We will do all we can to push for a resolution in Dewan Rakyat to state the Malaysians' stand that we condemn the superpowers which support the Israeli-Zionist regime,” said Hamzah.

He was speaking to thousands of Perikatan Nasional, mostly PAS members and supporters, who flooded the streets in front of the Malaysian US embassy on Jalan Tun Razak.

“The illegal land of Israel supported by the US and European leaders has emboldened the Zionist regime to launch the latest aggression against the Palestinians. Prophet Muhammad promised that there would be Muslims who would rise to stand up for the Palestinians. They are those who stay in Bait-ul-Maqdis (Jerusalem).

“Even non-Muslim countries with heart and compassion are with the Palestinians.

“The Muslims are rising across the world even though we may differ in our opinions,” said Abdul Hadi.

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the prayers of the Muslims would “crush the Israelis” as they have gone against international laws by killing innocent children and women.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s deputy president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, called on the Western media not to take sides but to show what is really happening in Gaza.

“To our friends in the west, this is not a war between Jews and Muslims but a genocide funded by a regime and superpowers to create terror with every bomb that they drop.

“To the western media, you are boosting the Israeli bombs with your one-sided reports,” said Ahmad Faizal.
