CHINESE educationist group Dong Zong is in talks to set up a pension fund for retired independent Chinese school teachers, reported China Press.

Its president Tan Tai Kim said it was currently speaking with industry players on plans to set up a RM40mil pension fund by 2024.

“We hope this will encourage more young people to take up the mantle of an educator and help nurture talented teachers so that they can continue to develop Chinese education in our country,” he said.

According to Tan, independent Chinese schools were currently short of 68 teachers – mainly Science and Maths teachers.

> A “tiger mum” in Shanxi, China has set a list of key performance indicators for her undergraduate son to achieve every month before being given his allowance, reported China Press.

According to a WeChat conversation between the two, the son is eligible for an allowance of 1,500 yuan (RM981) a month, but she will only hand him 900 yuan (RM588) on the first day of each month.

To earn the remaining 600 yuan (RM392), the son is required to study at the library three times a day and take a video to show proof he was there.

For completing three visits a day, he will get 10 yuan (RM7), which adds up to a total of 300 yuan (RM196) for the whole month.

If he never misses even a single visit a month, his mother will give him another 300 yuan, making it a total of 600 yuan.

The mother even offered 500 yuan (RM327) a month if the son manages to find a girlfriend.

When the message went viral, many criticised the mother for her harsh teaching method.

However, the undergraduate, known as Xun Guang, was quick to defend his mother.

“My mum is a bit strict with me, but I will still follow.

“She knows my character and that it would be hard for me to find a partner. I think she hopes to train me to have the ability to interact with the opposite gender,” he told the press.

> Hong Kong actor Kenneth Ma said he had just completed his bridal shoot with fiancée Roxanne Tong in Paris and they were looking forward to their upcoming wedding, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Tong uploaded a video of their holiday in France on Instagram recently. Ma later posted a video of them forming a heart shape using their hands with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

When asked about their trip to Paris, Ma said he was there for their bridal photo shoot, adding that their wedding would be held in South-East Asia.

When asked who had been invited, Ma remained coy but said it would mainly be family members as it was going to be an overseas wedding reception.

Tong and Ma started dating after the latter broke up with actress Jacqueline Wong following her cheating scandal with married singer Andy Hui in 2019.

They announced their engagement on New Year’s Day this year.
