DAP reps who fail to perform will be replaced, says party sec-gen

IPOH: DAP representatives who fail to perform their duty will be replaced, says Anthony Loke.

The DAP Secretary General said elected representatives were chosen by the voters and therefore should not put the party to shame.

“We need to remember the mandate given to us by the voters, they trusted us. We should not take the responsibility lightly. All DAP members must work hard and remember our duty to serve the public,” he said.

Loke said this in his opening speech at the 22nd Perak DAP annual convention at a hotel here on Sunday (Oct 29).

Also present were Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming, state PKR chairman Chang Lih Kang, state Umno deputy chairman Datuk Azian Osman and Perak Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

He added that with Perak DAP having representatives in the federal government, state government and local council, it is important that elected representatives perform well.

“In Perak alone, we have two ministers and four state executive council members, 99 local councillors and over 100 village chiefs. The most important is to remind ourselves everyday why we are doing this and to remember the responsibility we hold," he said.

“That is the Key Performance Indicator and objective that they need to meet,” added Loke, who said that DAP has many potential new leaders.

He then said that these new faces must also remember to work together with the current leaders and not against them.
