ACTRESS Aida Haris, who was staying at the same homestay as Badrul Muhayat and his wife in Penang, said she found out about the actor’s death after hearing his wife Norhayati Zulkapli scream.

“Earlier in the morning, I was startled to hear Norhayati screaming. I rushed to her room and found that he (Badrul) was unconscious,” Berita Harian quoted her as saying.

“We tried to resuscitate him but there was no response, and we called the ambulance.

“I did not notice any changes in him. He appeared okay and healthy.”

Aida said the last time she saw him was before he went to sleep the previous night.

“He said he was sleepy and wanted to call it a day. That was all we spoke about before he went to his room,” she said.

Badrul Muhayat died in his sleep on Oct 28 while staying at a homestay in Taman Pauh Jaya, Penang. He was 55.

> Driven by a spirit of charity, two satay sellers made a choice to keep the prices affordable for their customers.

Muhammad Khairul Fikri Abdu Kadirl, 30, of Jalan Kampung Padang in Jitra, Kedah, said he decided to sell chicken satay for 40sen per stick while sellers sold for 80sen to RM1 per stick.

He added that beef satay was sold for 70sen per stick.

“This will give everyone the chance to enjoy satay,” he told Sinar Harian.

Khairul said he did not want to burden his customers with high prices as there were people who could not afford it.

Another seller, Muhammad Zaidi Baharom, 42, who has a stall near Jalan Kampung Padang, also sells chicken satay for 40sen per stick and beef satay for 70sen per stick.

He said he offered satay at an affordable rate to earn a living and be charitable simultaneously.

“The response has been good. I have managed to sell up to 1,000 chicken satay a day,” he said.
