Huge potential for toilet equipment industry in Kinta area, says Ipoh mayor

IPOH: There is a huge potential for the development of the toilet equipment industry here, says mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin.

He said Ipoh and the Kinta district as a whole is surrounded by resources that can be used to make toilet equipment, adding that this makes it suitable for relevant factories to be set up here.

"We have an abundance of resources like silica, minerals and clay, which are mostly found in the Kinta district.

"Investors can build factories here to manufacture the equipment and we can even compete with other brands," he said at the Ipoh City Council full board meeting here on Tuesday (Oct 31).

These products could even be exported, he added.

Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming was reported to have said during the Toilet of the Year Award 2023 Kuala Lumpur on Monday (Oct 30) that he hoped the country could produce world-class brands of toilet equipment.

Nga said the global market value of the industry was about RM80bil and it is expected to grow by 7.6% annually.

On this, Rumaizi said the industry was not big and there is room for expansion.

“The potential is huge,” he added.
