Man, 65, killed after car crashes into tree along Lim Chong Eu Expressway


GEORGE TOWN: A senior citizen succumbed to injuries sustained during a car crash here on Wednesday (Nov 1).

The 65-year-old man was said to have sustained head injuries after the car he was driving crashed into a tree along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway here.

The Fire and Rescue Department said upon arrival at the scene at 4.23pm, the team found that a car had crashed into a tree and the victim identified as Ang Kah Hin was trapped in the driver's seat.

"The driver suffered head injuries from the impact and was unconscious when we arrived at the scene.

"Special equipment was used to extricate the victim from the vehicle," it said in a statement.

It said that the victim was then pronounced dead by the Health Department.

"The case has been handed over to the police for further investigation.

"The area was then cleared of debris from the accident," it said.
