All evacuees return home after floods in Johor Baru recede

JOHOR BARU: All flood evacuees in Johor Baru have been allowed to return to their homes as water levels here have receded.

According to the Johor Civil Defence Force (APM), all 74 individuals from 22 families have been allowed to return home at about 5pm on Thursday (Nov 2).

“The relief centre at Dewan Sungai Tiram was closed at 5pm and flood evacuees have since been allowed to return home.

“The centre, which was providing shelter to flood victims from Jalan Batu 10 and Jalan Mak Piah, was opened at about 7pm on Wednesday (Nov 1) following a flash flood,” it said in a statement.

It added that for now, no other districts in Johor are affected by floods.

“As of 5pm, five districts, namely, Johor Baru, Mersing, Segamat, Kluang and Kulai are experiencing bad weather while the remaining five districts are seeing clear skies,” it said.
