Terengganu MCA hopes to see more women digital entrepreneurs

KEMAMAN: A research project looking into women's participation in digital entrepreneurship has been launched by Terengganu MCA to help women attain economic independence via e-commerce.

State party chief Dr Monna Ong said the study, "Digital Pathways: Unlocking Potential and Boosting the Success of Malaysia's Women Entrepreneurs", would also explore relevant strategies and key factors.

She said the study would be conducted in the Klang Valley, targeted at women aged 18 to 60.

"The research findings will serve as a valuable guide for women on their digital entrepreneurship journey, enabling them to enhance household income," she said, adding that findings will be presented to pertinent departments and policy makers to bolster the advancement of initiatives that address societal needs.

The research project was launched by Wanita MCA chief Wong You Fong at the "Women Entrepreneurship Boost Program" held here on Friday (Nov 3).

Wong said Wanita MCA was looking forward to more comprehensive research projects in any field that could help in policy making.

"Legal safeguards are an important aspect that we champion. This is why we are setting up task forces to look into the relevant laws that affect women, family and senior citizens," Wong said, adding that Wanita MCA had been urging the government to establish ombudsman mechanisms to deal with such issues.

The event also featured talks on entrepreneurial opportunities for women in the digital world.

Besides the entrepreneurship topics, representatives from the police force were also invited to speak on the prevention of telecommunication network fraud.
