MALAYSIAN rapper Namewee has released a new song in solidarity with Palestine, pledging to donate US$1 (RM4.75) for every 1,000 likes it receives, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The 40-year-old uploaded a song on YouTube titled We Are Everyone on Oct 30, which is part of his recently released album Weenomenon.
In the song, Namewee tells those trapped in the Israel-Gaza conflict that there are others around the world who stand firm alongside their cause.
“Apart from you, there are thousands of others who stand unyieldingly with you. All around the world, they are fighting with you. You know you are not alone!” he sang.
In his Instagram post, Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, said the funds would be donated to a foundation providing aid to affected civilians.
> A teenager in Shanghai, China, was found to have been living under a staircase in a mall without being noticed for half a year just to prepare for the gruelling Gaokao examinations, reported China Press.
Mall security guards stumbled upon the hidden space beneath the staircase on Oct 30 only to find a boy in a hoodie engrossed in his revision materials.
He was found to be sleeping in a tent, but had equipped the space with a small table, chair, stationery and his books. The place was said to be clean and tidy.
“This place is quiet and is suitable for revision,” he said.
The mall released a statement, urging families to give more attention to their children and ensure that they get the support and love needed while growing up.
Gaokao, officially known as the Nationwide Unified Examination for Admissions to General Universities and Colleges, is China’s most gruelling exam to determine which college or university a candidate is eligible to enrol in.
