Internal probe on four policemen caught supplying ketum juice in lock-up

KOTA BAHRU: Kelantan police are currently conducting an internal investigation on four personnel who were previously detained on suspicion of supplying ketum juice and tobacco to detainees in the Kota Bharu Court lock-up on Oct 30.

State police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the four personnel with the rank of corporal and lance corporal, aged 25 to 33, had been remanded for three days from Oct 30 to Nov 1.

"The internal investigation is ongoing, and we will take temporary action for the suspension process.

"If it is confirmed that the substances were brought for personal use or distribution, action will be taken under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952,” he told reporters at the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters on Sunday (Nov 5).

He said that in light of the case, there was a need for increased emphasis on supervision as instructed by the Inspector-General of Police regarding accountability of all supervising officers.- Bernama
