Papar man killed in motorcycle mishap

KOTA KINABALU: A local man’s morning trip to the mosque ended tragically after he was killed in an accident in south-western Papar district, about 60km from here, on Monday (Nov 6).

The 41-year-old victim fell from his motorcycle at about 4.40am while heading to the mosque, some 1km from his house in Kampung Kelatuan.

Papar police chief Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said it is believed the victim lost control of his vehicle owing to slippery road conditions.

“He was thrown off his motorcycle and landed on the road face first.

“The victim suffered serious facial injuries and was pronounced dead by medical officers at the scene,” he said in a statement, adding that the body was sent to the district hospital for an autopsy.
