KUALA LUMPUR: PKR’s name and logo are no longer featured on a United Kingdom-based organisation, Liberal International’s official website, says Fahmi Fadzil.
The Communications and Digital Minister said he was informed of the matter yesterday.
“PKR is not a member of the Liberal International. I have already stated this.
“They (Liberal International) also took note that PKR is not a member,” he told reporters when met at Pantai Dalam here yesterday.
Liberal International is a worldwide organisation of liberal political parties founded in Oxford in 1947.
It has become the main network of liberal parties that aim to strengthen liberalism around the world.
Recently, several social media postings claimed that PKR is a member of Liberal International, an organisation that has announced its support for Israel.
Describing the allegation as a “political attack”, Fahmi said PKR was looking at several options on how to best handle the matter, including legal action.
“I will ask our friends, especially lawyers, to take a look at such a malicious slander made against us by irresponsible people who are trying to link us (to Liberal International).
“If needed, we will look into taking legal action.
“I noticed that there is over 200 (social media) pieces of content related to Liberal International that are attacking the PKR, the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and myself.
“Clearly, there is coordinated behaviour, and this is a political attack,” said Fahmi.
Checks on Liberal International’s website yesterday showed that the PKR logo has been removed from its website.
