KUALA LUMPUR: Three DAP MPs took Siti Mastura Muhammad (PN-Kepala Batas) to task for her recent remarks alleging that DAP leaders were related by blood to communist leaders such as Chin Peng.
While Siti Mastura was debating the National Unity Ministry’s Budget 2024 allocations on Tuesday (Nov 7), Teresa Kok (PH-Seputeh) interjected, asking the former to explain the slanderous remarks made against DAP and herself.
“We want to ask about the slander against DAP and myself,” Kok said.
Siti Mastura, however, did not allow an interjection and proceeded with her debate.
Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang) then stood up, demanding Siti Mastura to explain.
“Don’t lie. What is your proof? Are you scared of answering?
"You are brave to make accusations outside but don’t dare to answer in Parliament,” said Wong.
Syerleena Abdul Rashid (PH-Bukit Bendera) also attempted to interject.
But Siti Mastura turned a deaf ear to all three DAP MPs and continued her speech in a raised voice.
Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) then challenged Siti Mastura to repeat her statement in the House.
“Embarrassing for young people to practice old politics,” he said.
This came after Siti Mastura claimed that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng was related by blood to Chin Peng.
In a now-viral video, she also linked Guan Eng and his wife, Betty Chew Gek Cheng, to other DAP leaders, namely Anthony Loke, Kok, Nga Kor Ming and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.
The Kepala Batas MP also claimed that DAP stalwart Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang was a cousin of former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
Siti Mastura allegedly made the claim during an election campaign for the Kemaman by-election.
Visibly frustrated, Tan Sri Johari Abdul then sarcastically told the MPs to continue standing up and speaking.
“Whoever wants to speak, I am giving you the floor. Please stand and speak.
“The people are watching. Carry on,” the Dewan Rakyat Speaker said while gesturing for the involved MPs to continue.
Once the House quietened down, Johari proceeded with the order of business.
Rodziah Ismail (PH-Ampang), who spoke next, then told Siti Mastura not to accuse others if she was not sure about the information in the first place.
“Remember, Islam is a religion of unity,” she said during her debate.
At a press conference earlier, Guan Eng gave Siti Mastura 48 hours to prove his blood ties to Chin Peng.
When approached in Parliament, Siti Mastura declined to comment further.
“I will not respond to things that are not factual,” said Mastura.
