Improving academic performance a priority in 2024, says PM

BANGI: Improving academic performance in schools and institutions of higher learning will be a priority next year, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"What is important is that come January next year, I want to stress the quality of education," the Prime Minister said when launching the pilot project on redeveloping dilapidated schools at SK Bandar Baru Bangi on Tuesday. (Nov 7)

He added that he would bring the matter up with Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin during this coming Cabinet meeting on Friday (Nov 10).

Anwar said it is now time to focus on improving students' performance after an effort by the government to improve the physical conditions of school amenities.

He said improving students' academic performance is crucial in light of the changing global landscape marked with challenges.

"We cannot uplift our nation if the quality of education is not developed," he added.

He said the ministries must draft proposals to improve students' academic performance a week after school reopens.

He said they would have to submit their proposals to him personally and provide progress reports.
