PETALING JAYA: Despite the initial fanfare, the progression of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill 2023 has been repeatedly delayed, says the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS).

In a statement Tuesday (Nov 7), MPS expressed its profound concern and dismay at the government's apparent lack of commitment to pass the Bill in Parliament.

"It has become increasingly evident to the people, health professionals and concerned parents that there is no political will to advance this Bill with the urgency and seriousness it deserves," MPS said in its statement.

It added that the health implications of continued inaction and its impact on future health expenditure is devastating.
