SEREMBAN: A 33-year-old man was injured after being slashed with a machete when he turned away his friend asking for a loan, in an incident near a clinic in Pekan Bukit Pelandok, Port Dickson, on Monday (Nov 6).
Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said a police report was received from the public at 6.15pm Monday over the attack, where the victim suffered injuries to his left palm, right elbow and right knee.
Aidi said the Port Dickson district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Division team arrested a 33-year-old man, and seized a machete believed to be the weapon used to injure the victim, in a house in Taman Murni, Chuah, at 1.50am Tuesday (Nov 7).
"The victim and the suspect are friends; the incident occurred when the victim refused to lend the suspect money. The suspect, who was drunk, turned vicious and attacked his friend with a machete,” he said here Tuesday.
Aidi Sham said the suspect, who has a criminal record with 12 prior offences including drugs, is a wanted person. He also tested positive for methamphetamine.
The suspect has been remanded for six days from Tuesday for further investigation, under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, also in Port Dickson, police arrested two men, aged 29 and 31 years old, on suspicion of stealing antiques worth RM6,000, at two separate locations in Alor Gajah, Melaka and Port Dickson, earlier this month.
He said this followed a report lodged by a man who claimed his antique items, including a sofa, had gone missing in Pasir Panjang on Oct 21.
"One of the suspects has six prior drug offences while the other has no criminal record. However, both tested positive for methamphetamine and they are still in remand at the Port Dickson police station for further investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code,” he said. - Bernama
