Firemen free van driver from wreckage after crash in Kuala Selangor


PETALING JAYA: A van driver was trapped for about 10 minutes in his vehicle after a crash with a lorry near Bestari Jaya, Kuala Selangor.

The incident occurred at 5.57am on Wednesday (Nov 8) at Jalan Rantau Panjang in Kampung Sungai Darah, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said in a statement.

"The victim, in his 50s, was transporting sundry goods when the crash occurred with the three-tonne lorry.

"His right leg was pinned (and he was) trapped in the vehicle for about 10 minutes before we managed to free him," he said.

The 29-year-old lorry driver was unhurt.

"The van driver was heading to Bestari Jaya from Rawang while the lorry was coming from the opposite direction," Ahmad Mukhlis added.
