KOTA KINABALU: A man in his forties was killed when he lost control of the four-wheel-drive (4WD) he was driving and hit a telecommunications pole along a road in Semporna on Wednesday (Nov 8).

According to Semporna OCPD Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, the accident was recorded around 2.30pm along Kilometre 10 Jalan Semporna-Tawau.

The 4WD driver was coming from Tawau heading towards Semporna and, upon arriving at the particular stretch, lost control of the vehicle.

The victim swerved to the left side of the road, hitting the pole where the impact caused the vehicle to turn turtle, said Mohd Farhan.

“He was pronounced dead on location, and the remains were brought to the Semporna hospital.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (causing death by reckless or dangerous driving).

“Anyone who has information on the accident could contact the investigating officer at 012-3650021, 089-782020 (Semporna police station) or the nearest police station,” he added.
