Lim Guan Eng has given Kepala Batas MP Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad 48 hours to prove her remarks about his alleged communist ties.
The DAP national chairman and Bagan MP said Siti Mastura has until Thursday to prove her allegations, failing which, action would be taken against her.
This came after Siti Mastura, who is also Penang PAS Muslimat deputy chief, claimed in a viral video clip that Lim has blood ties with the late Chin Ping, who once led the disarmed Communist Party of Malaya.
“We see once again the extremism politics and slanders that are used by PAS, to the point that such accusations made so little sense that even they themselves know are baseless,” he told a press conference at Parliament yesterday.
In the video that first appeared on Nov 5, Siti Mastura also claimed that Lim’s father Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang and former Singaporean prime minister Lee Kuan Yew were cousins.
She also linked Lim and his wife Betty Chew to other DAP leaders such as Anthony Loke, Teresa Kok, Nga Kor Ming and Ngeh Koo Ham.
She was said to have made the claims during an election campaign on Nov 4 for Kemaman by-election. Polling is scheduled on Dec 2.
