Three nabbed for fighting during Deepavali event


KUALA LUMPUR: Three men have been detained for fighting during an event at the Sri Sabah public housing area in Cheras.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the incident occurred at about 11.45am on Tuesday (Nov 7) during the handing over of Deepavali donations in the parking area.

"Police personnel on duty at the event managed to break up the fight.

"The suspects were detained and we are investigating under Section 160 of the Penal Code and Section 21(2) of the Police Act 1967," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Nov 8).

The suspects, aged between 26 and 36, did not have any criminal records, he said.

"We have handed over the investigation paper to the DPP.

"The suspects will be prosecuted," he added.
