540 Deepavali care packages distributed to the Indian community in Ayer Hitam, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: A total of 540 Deepavali care packages have been distributed to the Indian community in the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

In a Facebook post Thursday (Nov 9), the Ayer Hitam MP said his Service Centre, in collaboration with the Yong Peng assemblyman's Service Centre, had been distributing the Deepavali packages since last week.

"Today, I rushed back to attend the distribution centre at Taman Kota Yong Peng in conjunction with Deepavali, which will be celebrated on Nov 12," the MCA president said in his post.

He added that his special officer Yu Yong Min and Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon had been distributing the packages with the help of volunteers.

"Today, 150 Deepavali care packages were distributed and I managed to spend time chatting with the constituents in the area," Dr Wee said.

He also expressed his thanks to the volunteers who had been helping to distribute the packages despite the almost daily rain.

"I asked them to always pay attention to their health and personal safety.

"I hope this donation will add to the joy of the recipients as they welcome the Festival of Lights," Dr Wee added.
