Police bust drug processing, distribution ring in two-day operation

SHAH ALAM: Police arrested 10 suspects and dismantled what is believed to be a drug processing and distribution ring in a two-day operation

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that a series of raids on Nov 2 and 3 led to the dismantling of a drug distribution ring. He said this at a press conference at the contingent headquarters on Thursday (Nov 9).

“On Nov 2, 2023, at approximately 11.25am, a police team from the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) apprehended a man driving a pickup truck on the side of the road in a residential area in Puncak Alam.

“Upon searching the vehicle, the police found 241 yellow plastic bags labelled 'Daguanyin Refined Chinese Tea' containing methamphetamine with an estimated weight of 250,780g (250.8kg),” said Comm Hussein Omar

“At around noon, the police successfully apprehended three more men at a restaurant in Puncak Alam Jaya.

“In their vehicle, the police found an orange-coloured sack with nine green plastic bags that contained around 9.37kg of suspected methamphetamine,” he said, adding that the arrested suspects were aged from 34 to 39 years old.

On Nov 3, six more suspects, aged 18 to 44, were arrested at a goat farm in Kapar.

Five of the suspects had criminal records with previous drug and criminal offences.

During the arrest, the suspects brought the police to a nearby area where over a hundred packets of heroin and methamphetamine were found buried.

The police believed that the group were responsible for processing and transporting drugs.

In total, the police seized around 326.8kg of drugs and ingredients used for manufacturing drugs, with an estimated value of RM10.39 mil.

“All have been remanded for seven days, starting Nov 3 and 4,” he said.
