Cops nab trio over alleged cable thefts in Kluang


KLUANG: Three local men were arrested for allegedly being involved in cable thefts here on Wednesday (Nov 8).

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the suspects were apprehended at 11.30am at the Kluang Rest House, Jalan Pejabat Kerajaan near here.

“All suspects, aged between 20 and 32, tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,’’ he said in a statement.

ACP Bahrin said the first suspect has previous records related to drug offences, the third one has one record of crime-related offences while the second suspect has none.

“They have been remanded for four days starting from Thursday (Nov 9) to assist with the investigation,’’ he said.

ACP Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine upon conviction.
