Five burglary suspects detained after fleeing onto roof

SHAH ALAM: Five house break-in suspects, including a woman, fled onto the roof of a flat to evade arrest during a police raid in Seksyen 20 here.

The group - four Malaysian men and a Thai woman - were captured at last.

A video that went viral on social media shows the suspects being detained by the police with the assistance of personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the raid was conducted at the flat, where the suspects lived, at about 12.03am on Saturday (Nov 11).

"The suspects, aged between 24 and 37, were tested positive for drugs and they also have previous records in drug-related offences.

"They tried to escape by climbing onto the roof of the flat but we managed to detain them," he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 12).

Various items including stolen goods and tools for house break-ins were seized from the group, he added.

"We believe they are responsible for at least three burglaries in Shah Alam," he said.

ACP Mohd Iqbal said the suspects have been remanded until Wednesday (Nov 15).

He urged those with information on the case to contact investigating officer Sjn AG. Kaszainizan at 013-978 0282.
