KUALA LUMPUR: Kepala Batas MP Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad (pic) is expected to have her statement recorded over comments on DAP leaders at Bukit Aman today.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the lawmaker had been summoned by the CID Special Investigation Unit (USJT).
“The case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication Multimedia Act 1998.
“Her statement will be recorded at the USJT’s office in Bukit Aman,” he said when contacted.
As of yesterday, six police reports have been lodged against Siti Mastura following her claims that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng had family ties with Chin Peng, the former Malayan Communist Party leader.
In the video that first appeared on Nov 5, Siti Mastura also claimed that Lim’s father Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang and former Singaporean prime minister Lee Kuan Yew were cousins.
She also linked Lim and his wife Betty Chew to other DAP leaders such as Anthony Loke, Teresa Kok, Nga Kor Ming and Ngeh Koo Ham.
She was said to have made the claims during an election campaign on Nov 4 for the Kemaman by-election.
Polling is scheduled on Dec 2.
In Penang, north Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Asri Shafie said a police report was lodged by a group of individuals from the National DAP Veteran Club on Nov 11.
“Yes, I confirmed that SPU district police headquarters has received two reports so far.
“However, the statement will be recorded by the Bukit Aman Classified Crime Investigation Unit at their headquarters tomorrow (today),” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Meanwhile, Lim has appointed lawyer Datuk Sankara Narayanan Nair to pursue legal action against Siti Mastura.
Lim has also demanded PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to publicly state their position on Siti Mastura’s claims.
He said her remarks were intended to incite fear of DAP and the ethnic Chinese community in Malaysia.
Lee was Singapore’s founding prime minister from 1959 to 1990. He passed away in 2015.
Chin Peng – whose real name was Ong Boon Hua – died in Thailand in 2013.
