Boy sustains burns, electrocuted after touching equipment in generator room


GEORGE TOWN: A 12-year-old boy sustained burns all over his body after being electrocuted when he touched equipment in an electrical generator room.

The Fire and Rescue department said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 16) that the incident occurred at around 4.55pm along Jalan Kampung Bukit in Taman Sri Bayu, Bayan Lepas.

"When we arrived at the scene several minutes later, we were informed that a child had suffered burn injuries due to contact with electrical equipment in the Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) electrical generator room there.

"The victim was taken by medical personnel before we arrived at the location.

"After assessing the situation, we ensured there was no further danger before turning it over to TNB for further action.

"The operation was under control and ended at 5.43pm," the statement read.
