Kemaman BN candidate to forge strong ties with gov’t, says Ahmad Zahid

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional's by-election candidate will develop strong ties with the Federal Government and boost Kemaman's economy, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).

Ahmad Zahid added he is confident with candidate Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor's abilities as he has experience protecting people's lives as former Chief of Defence Force and even grew up in Kemaman.

"Barisan Nasional has selected a candidate who has not only protected people's lives but led thousands of soldiers during his military career," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Nov 18).

"Our candidate also understands Kemaman's history well," he added.

Ahmad Zahid urged the Kemaman people to vote for a candidate who can govern the area well and develop good ties with the Unity Government.

He also advised Barisan's machinery to campaign safely and avoid slandering other people.

"I am confident Barisan will return strong to Kemaman and turn the area into a ‘original blue’ once again," he said.

The Kemaman by-election in Terengganu is set to be a straight fight between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional.

Raja Mohamed Affandi will be facing Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who will carry the Perikatan banner.

Polling day for the by-election has been set for Dec 2, with early voting on Nov 28.
